"Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear." - George Addair

Morning guys! I’ve been up for ohhhh about 2 hours now (currently 6am). Thank you newborn life. :) Anyone else in this stage of life? 🙋🏻‍♀️ But in the hours that I’m up with baby, (and then not able to get back to sleep right away) I pour myself into being thoughtful about the thing I love to do - photography!

I’ve always been a creative person. I’ve always needed some sort of creative outlet. This has led me to starting multiple businesses, including opening an Etsy shop, a clothing boutique, and a few other “side hustles” here and there. Anyone else find themselves doing this?! Being an Enneagram 7, I guess I hold true to the fact that I always need to be starting a project haha.

Well, this past year I finally did it! I found the creative outlet that I’m so passionate about. I find myself actually wanting to sit up at 3 or 4 in the morning and edit photos, plan for my marketing and outreach, and do all things photography. I absolutely love it! I get so excited to take pictures for you all. To meet all these cool and interesting people. To hear your excitement and see your joy when I deliver the sweet moments captured through my pictures. I literally cannot get enough of it!

I love the art of photography. I love the joy it brings others! I love the creativeness it brings out and connection it creates.

With all of that being said, starting my photography business was one of the “scarier” things I’ve done. I looked at my work and thought, “Is it good enough?” “Will people actually like these pictures?” “Can I do it?” These questions - these are the kinds of questions that get in our heads and hold us back. All of this always brings me back to these words.

These words ring so true and really resonate with me. Everything you’ve been wanting is, so many times, achievable if you push past your fear. Want to get that promotion at work? Push past your fear to have those conversations with leadership. Want to live in your dream location, but can’t quite get yourself to take the leap? You may be living exactly the life you want if you make that move and put your fears and worries aside.

This is what I constantly keep in mind as I navigate my photography business. I’m constantly reiterating this way of thinking to myself. Instead of comparing my work and wondering if I’ll ever be as good as other inspiring photographers I follow, I push past all of that. I am completely happy with what I’ve created and what I provide for my awesome, amazing clients.

And guess what?! Taking that perspective, I’ve enjoyed what I’m doing 1000 times more! I’m so thankful to be doing what I love, and I’m so thankful for all of you and your support.

Today I challenge you to take a leap, push past that fear, and do something you’ve been wanting to do.

Leave a comment below! I would love to hear from you.

Katie
